Siam application, appreciate, apply
“Another channel to access Thai art”

Main Gallery, 8th floors

Exhibition presents aesthetic and understanding of Thai art from the past to present. It shows 50 works by contemporary artists in which trace back from Thai heritage, that inspired by Buddhism and localism. Along with contemporary artworks, there are photographic works that convey the beauty of Buddhist art which goes back since Sukhothai period. Moreover, during the exhibition, there will be activities support the understanding of technique in Thai art developed from the olden days.

Temporary Storage #01 is an overlapping platform for intervention and participation of both the artists and the viewers and also a platform for future project. This exhibition/project does not present the whole idea as a single narrative but rather to provide the possibility of readings, interpreting and perceiving the presented works in relation to the context of time and place and to emphasize the viewers' experiences.

THAITAI

"THAITAI: A Measure of Understanding" is a contemporary art exchange project independently initiated for the first time by Thai and Taiwanese artists, and jointly brought forth by OCAC (Taiwan) and duo artists jiandyin (Thailand). The two-stage spine of dialogue is the works of the two countries' artists created locally and overseas. The first stage will begin in Bangkok Art and Culture Centre in late 2012. In all, 12 Taiwanese and 10 Thai artists will collaborate, exhibit, and extend the activities such as forum, performance, and workshop to the Art Centre of Silpakorn University, the Bangkok University Gallery (BUG) and OCAC Bangkok.

Picture Perfect : A Photography Series Exhibition
Part I : 3 Women

"Picture Perfect" is a series of exhibition that explores photographs that transcend idealized beauty as embedded from the past to the way to comprehend beauty and perfection in the context of complex human condition in a contemporary era. The first series starts with "3 women", the exhibition opens up an issue of looking at image of women through eyes of female photographers.

PlasticBang!kok is a project by Basurama, a group of architects from Spain. Their aim is to create awareness about the overconsumption of plastic bags in big cities by using recycled bags for an installation piece.
