With the current political and social climate, it marks up the stage of transition not only

Whether it is neo-conservative uprising, progressive evolution, it paves the context for
the exhibition to broaden beyond existing boundaries to reassess current issues at hand
in their contemporaneous entirety. With the keywords such as humour, superiority, irony,
mass, and contradiction are some among many, suggested to encourage new thoughts
of self in relation to society. Through the sculptural works of the world famous artist,
Erwin Wurm, they offer various depths of philosophy with subliminity placing audience

Reflections of the City
By Jompol Puatawee and Suttipan Suttichai
6 - 29 January 2017
People's Gallery P1-P3, 2nd floor, artHUB@bacc

Some objects are valuable and meaningful for the owners. As I observed homeless people
in the capital city, I realized the relationship of life and Thai society and wanted to express
this idea through these private objects. - Jompol Puatawee

Modern society is filled with capitalism and technology. Simple life is destroyed to prepare
for increasing population. The exhibition reflects today's Thai society with "lines". The
'lines' represent the complicating structure of rules as well as the beauty and truth hidden behind them. - Suttipan Suttichai

Destination: Still Unknown
Pramuan Burusphat: A Retrospective

21 January - 28 February 2017
Studio, 4th floor

Opening Ceremony on Saturday 21 January 2017 at 18.30 hrs.
by Prof. Dr.Apinan Poshyananda

Destination: Still Unknown is a retrospective exhibition dedicated to Pramuan Burusphat
(b. 1953,Bangkok), eminent artist, educator and advocate of photography (as art).

Since the late 70s, Ajarn Pramuan has displayed a rare commitment towards photography
as his medium-of-choice in his artistic practice. A pioneer of conceptual photography in
Thailand, his work also incorporates collage and drawing. Pramuan’s usage of photography
is different from the salon photographers and the photojournalists. Heenjoys
experimenting with different photographic processes and printing technologies, creating
imageries informed by his personal experiences. Pramuansees photography as a way to
connect and dialogue with the global community of artists and photographers. Since the
90s, Pramuan has also been thinking about the artist’s role in wastage and consumption
(through the making of art), prompting him to shift his work in a new direction. In many
ways, he is constantly ahead of the curve.

This retrospective aims to highlight some of the threads in his artistic practice. It is also
an occasion tocelebrate Pramuan’s impact on Thai contemporary art.

In Southeast Asia, photography’s place in the visual arts remains uncertain. For decades,
Ajarn Pramuan found himself operating in an unsympathetic environment. Nevertheless,
since the late 70s, he has participated in ten solo shows and over 70 group exhibitions
across the world.

ebastião Salgado
The World Through His Eyes
Organised by The Royal Photographic Society of Thailand
and Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, in collaboration
with Sundaram Tagore Galleries
8 February - 8 March 2017
Main Gallery, 8th floor

Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 8 February 2017 at 18.30 hrs.

Sebastião Salgado is one of the word’s greatest living photographers. In the past three decades, he has traveled to more than 100 countries for his photographic projects.
Breaking down barriers, he lives with his subjects for weeks, immersing himself in their environments. He sees himself as a participant entering their story. Within a single frame,
he captures the fragility and the fortitude of the human spirit.

For his first major exhibition in Thailand, the photographer presents iconic black-and-white images from his most influential series: Workers (1986-1992), Exodus (1993-1999) and Genesis (2004-2011). A portfolio of of 20 prints titled Other Americas will also be on view. From hauntingly beautiful images of disappearing landscapes to scenes chronicling the mass displacement of people across the globe, each of his works is infused with empathy and respect.

Sebastião Salgado has been awarded numerous prominent photographic prizes in
recognition of his accomplishments. He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and among
other distinctions, an honorary member of the Academy of Arts and Sciences in the USA.
Touring exhibitions of this work have been, and continue to be, presented in museums
throughout the world. In 2013 the book De ma terre à la Terre (From my land to the
planet), a narrative account of Salgado’s life and career, was published, and in 2014, the
documentary film The Salt of the Earth, directed by Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro
Salgado was released.
