EARLY YEARS PROJECT #4: PRAXIS MAKES PERFECT
An Incubating Project for Young Artists
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre

Today - 28 July 2019 / Main Gallery, 7th Floor

The 4th Early Years Project Exhibition "Praxis Makes Perfect" highlights the praxis of art as the catalyst of dialogues and human interaction, featuring projects by eight selected artists. Here are some of the highlights :

"What would you do if you feel disconnected from your own origin?"

Virada Banjurtrungkajorn realized that stories of the past alone cannot make her feel connected with her ancestors. In "find me a house, 2019", she experiments by creating a space from her grandmother's memory and retelling the stories in a screenplay.

"Without spoken words, how do we understand each other?"

Jeanne Penjan Lassus, creator of "Eye your ears", asked herself this very question. To find the answer, she studied Thai Sign Language (TSL) to explore the hidden meanings in body movements.

"When I look at the soil, I find the relationship between growth and myself."

In "Identity (2019)", Pannawat Muangmoon explores the relationship between Buddhism, growth, and bodily waste and highlights the linkage between them using the earth element, the origin of life.

"I want to make art out of the ordinary."

Decha Diwiset integrates his movement with the water and the earth to portray the ordinary lives of villagers, reflecting his identity and origin in the video performance titled "DE CHA".
