Art of Element & Therapy

'Art therapy' has been dubbed the art of processes. It has long improved the quality of life for people who lose their physical or mental balance.

Works by artists and art therapists invite visitor to experience art and therapy, and to understand how the visual elements of art, the human elements and therapeutic elements become the source and components of art therapy processes.

Dedicated to the creativity of 51 Thai and Japanese artists outside art school, the exhibition comprises paintings, ceramics, 3D works, photographs and many other forms of arts. An example is a collection of diagrams, symbols and codes by homeless Samer Peerachai who leaves mysterious drawings around Bangkok. The sketches were then turned by Jakkrawal Nilthamrong into a piece of video art screened nearby. Another must-see is Noriko Hikashimoto’s colourful bubble wrap, which took her six years to paint dot-by-dot to express her emotion.

RIFTS: Thai Contemporary Artistic Practices in Transition, 1980s - 2000s
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre

The exhibition shows shifting phenomenon of Thai artists from late 1980s to 2000s, often considered as a transition period demonstrating the rift in Thai visual arts scene.The ripples created by social, economic and political factors can be seen in the works as well as participatory activities creating dialogue betweens the past and modern art scenes in Thailand.

CINEMA DIVERSE 2019: GLoW!
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre

For the 7th annual edition of Cinema Diverse, four international films, selected by a humanities scholar, a filmmaker, a history professor and a writer will be shown from September - October 2019. After each screening there, will be a post-screening talk and a Q&A session to discuss ideas and thoughts about the film.

Registration for each screening starts at 16.00 hrs.
Entry fee is 100 Baht per person (with a free programme leaflet).
